Marlin Magazine 2007 Art Gallery
Over the last few years Rick Bogert has been featured in Art Galleries, major fishing publications and tournaments around the world. From a small town on the coast of New Jersey, his passion for fishing and art, along with his hard work and extensive travel have earned him a place among the top in his field.
His unique style sets him apart from many in the industry and he credits this to fishing most of his life in the canyons of the Northeast with good friend Keith Norris. A style that comes from the heart and from memories of the long days and nights in the canyons and from the places he knows best. From Blue Marlin chasing small yellowfin in the Hudson or a hot big eye bite at daybreak in the Toms or the annual trips to Hatteras where his best known painting “Outer Banks Line-up” was created.
It’s not just about painting fish, it’s about capturing a moment in time. whether a tenacious fish or a moment on the dock where friends gather to share their passion for a sport that makes you want to come back over and over again. Remembering nights in the canyon when you say to yourself “what am I doing here” and at 4:00am the bite starts or when you go to lay down to catch a quick nap at day break, back on the troll and 5 rods go off with 200# big eyes and three of you to battle them in. There is no other sport in the world like this, where after 2 days of non-stop fishing you get back to the dock and a few hours later you start wondering when you can get back out again.

It’s hard to put all this in a painting, but this is what inspires me, this is what keeps me painting sportfish, boats and marinas. The people around the water and around the sport are some of the nicest people in the world and the incredible beauty and thrill of each trip on the ocean whether in Costa Rica, the Northeast or anywhere is more than enough inspiration to last a lifetime.

while fishing with Costa Rica Dreams Sport fishing. The
striped Marlin above was fought by Rick and once on the wire,
Rick jumped in the water and took his picture, climbed back
into the boat for a photo with his Striped Marlin. The Striped Marlin
was released unharmed, as are all the billfish. For more
